Livestream experiment: Tom and Rafe on uStream tomorrow

  • Tomorrow on our weekly Real Deal podcast podcast, Tom and I will be discussing lifecasting (e.g., Justin.tv) and the livestreaming tools ordinary people (as opposed to 24/7 exhibitionists) can use to broadcast their own cams in realtime: uStream, Stickam, ComVu (review), and Veodia (review).
  • Our discussion wouldn't be complete without a live demo of livestreaming, so Tom and I both plan to be live on uStream when we tape the show in the CNET studio, Tuesday at 3:00PM Pacific time. My uStream account is Rafestream. Tom's is Real-Deal. Come say Hi.
  • We're using uStream, by the way, because of all the livestreaming products I've tested, it's the only one with a good chat function, so you'll be able to fire questions to us while we're taping. Kyte.tv's (review) chat function actually comes close to uStream's, but it doesn't offer the real-time video, just timed snapshots. If you want to join the discussion ahead of time, come on over to the Real Deal forums .
  • I will update this post with the audio file after the show is produced -- expect it about 4:00PM tomorrow.

  • Apparently, I did sign up for this.
  • Update: Zooomr is live right now on uStream. The company just announced its latest version (on uStream) and is taking calls from users about the new features. Cool. Is this the new way to do tech press conferences?via
